Drum Solo, Sonia Style
Sonia has had the great privilege of performing drum solos with some of the best drummers around the world. Over the years, she has been gifted with a vast vocabulary of rhythms and dance technique. In this workshop, Sonia will break down and drill intricate hip and torso movements, along with upper body and arm stylizations typically used in a drum solo. Choreography will be set to various rhythms, which will be explained, and Sonia will encourage students to find their own identity through short segments of improvisation. Please wear comfortable dance wear and dance shoes. Choreography may be recorded at the end of the workshop for your private viewing and reference.

Flamenco-Persian Fusion
Sonia is well versed in a host of dance forms, including flamenco and middle eastern dances. In this workshop, you will be introduced to a vocabulary of technique and typical stylizations as they are seamlessly blended together to create a balanced and harmonious fusion. There will be intense focus on arm and hand movements, and patterns. Please wear comfortable dance wear and soft dance shoes. No flamenco shoes required. Feel free to wear a skirt. Choreography may be recorded at the end of the workshop for your private viewing and reference.

Muwashahat
Inspired by the innovative creation of Mahmoud Reda, Sonia shares her own interpretation on Muwashahat. This brand new choreography is filled with steps that sweep you across the floor with a delicate floating quality. In this workshop, Sonia will lead a classic ballet warm-up to help you connect with the muscles which are used to create the lines and aesthetic commonly seen in this particular dance style. She will break down and drill traveling steps, turns, undulations, hip circles, and much more whilst incorporating subtle hip work and maintaining an elegant upper body carriage. Please wear comfortable dance wear and dance shoes. Choreography may be recorded at the end of the workshop for your private viewing and reference.

Modern Oriental Style
With over 20 years of experience, Sonia has studied and performed various interpretations of belly dance (Raqs Sharqi) across the globe. In this workshop, Sonia will share with you some of her favorite techniques and phrases inspired by a selection modern Egyptian styles. She will guide you through a classical ballet warm-up, followed by drills which include traveling steps, turns, and intricate hip-work, whilst encouraging an elegant and graceful upper body. Please wear comfortable dance wear and dance shoes. Choreography may be recorded at the end of the workshop for your private viewing and reference.
